Wellby Financial Breaks Ground on New Headquarters near Baybrook Mall
Five-story campus will bring Wellby teams together, expand member access, and support the credit union’s continued growth across Greater Houston
HOUSTON (October 29, 2026) - Wellby Financial broke ground on a new five-story headquarters at Baybrook Center in Greater Houston’s Bay Area on Oct. 29. The 102,246-square-foot campus will bring more Wellby teams together, include a new member branch, and provide the capacity and infrastructure needed to serve members and support the credit union’s continued growth across Greater Houston.
Located on 9.5 acres at 19130 Gulfbrook Drive near Baybrook Mall and Interstate 45, the campus represents a significant investment in Wellby’s members, team members, and future. The project also reflects Wellby’s confidence in the Bay Area’s continued growth and economic vitality while deepening the credit union’s longstanding presence in the region.
“We believe in the future of Wellby Financial and the people and communities we serve,” said Marty Pell, president and CEO of Wellby Financial. “We are building for our next 65 years with members at the center of every decision. This will be a new place to prosper—one designed to help our team members do their best work, strengthen how we serve members, and carry Wellby’s purpose forward for generations to come.”
As a member-owned credit union, Wellby has approached the project with a focus on responsible stewardship and long-term member value. Wellby is making the investment from a position of financial strength, directing resources toward a lasting asset designed to strengthen the cooperative and serve the needs of current and future members.
The headquarters will provide the foundation for Wellby to grow responsibly while maintaining the personal service and financial strength members expect. It will support continued investment in people, technology, operations, and member service as Wellby works toward its goal of helping 150,000 members prosper across Greater Houston by 2030.
“The Bay Area has been part of Wellby’s story from the beginning, and it will continue to be an important part of our future,” Pell said. “This location keeps us close to the communities Wellby has proudly served since 1961, while positioning us to serve more people across Greater Houston. It also provides the accessibility, visibility, and room to grow that we need for the years ahead.”
Wellby’s administrative teams currently operate across several locations. Bringing team members together will improve coordination and create greater opportunities for collaboration, learning, mentorship, and connection – all of which strengthen the organization’s ability to serve members.
Designed with capacity for more than 500 people, the headquarters will include indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, training and collaboration areas, a parking garage, and a new Wellby branch. Together, these spaces will create a welcoming campus for team members, members, and community partners.
Wellby acquired the Baybrook Center property in 2024. Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with construction completion targeted for October 2028. Project partners include La Macchia Group, strategic advisory and site selection; Colliers Houston, land transaction and brokerage; Powers Brown Architecture, architecture; Griffin Partners, development; and Harvey Cleary, general contractor.
